One of the most anticipated events of the year has arrived, the Galway Races returns to Ballybrit this week, Monday 29th July to Sunday 4th August.

The glamorous afternoon begins at 12 noon with a Cocktail & Prosecco reception followed by a delicious 4-course meal. During lunch keep your race cards at the ready as TV racing pundits Tracy Piggott and Tom Lee share their expert advice on finding a winner at the opening day of the Galway Races. A glamourous fashion show will take place with the most exclusive looks and must-have pieces for the races and summer season, all compered by style guru Mandy Maher and TV3 showbiz correspondent Noel Cunningham. Frocks To Fillies

Kicking off with a cocktail and prosecco reception, Frocks to Fillies is set to be the must-do racing event in Tuam. Drinks will be followed by a 4-course lunch in the Turlough Mór Suite. The event will be accompanied by a millinery show and best-dressed lady competition, raffles, treats and plenty of exciting surprise on the day. The First Furlong, in support of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, is one of the highlights of the race week social calendar. Now in its ninth year, this glamourous event kicks off at 12 noon with a prosecco reception and entertainment by the Guinness Jazz Band. Ladies and gents alike can get dressed up, soak up the amazing festival atmosphere, enjoy a sumptuous 4-course lunch with wine sponsored by Eno wines, followed by fabulous fashion with Millinery Showcase with Catwalk Modelling Agency, featuring Galway’s most popular milliners. You can leave your car at the hotel for the day and enjoy a complimentary coach to transfer you and your guests to the Racetrack to make the first race for this evening meeting, with complimentary entry to the racecourse also. Racing For Rosabel


All proceeds will be donated to local charity Rosabel’s Rooms, which helps to provide comfort and support for grieving parents and families suffering through child loss.

Punters can expect to enjoy a drinks reception, delicious canapés, live music, racing tips from our pundits and fashion advice from their style experts. The Galway Races has always been renowned as a haven for the fashion-savvy, with ladies saddling up for a week of sporting glamorous outfits, larger-than-life headpieces, colourful accessories and hopefully sunglasses. The Skeff Bar, located right at the heart of Eyre Square, will be the watering-hole for locals and visitors aplenty. Athlone Towncentre’s Celebrity Judges will seek out an individual with a real flair for fashion and style which reflects the vibrant summer Galway Races Festival. This year the event is expected to be one of the biggest gatherings of race-going fashion lovers to date, with the competition being in its seventh year. James Patrice, Television Presenter, and Marietta Doran, Fashion Stylist & Racing Style Presenter, will seek out the best style Galway has to offer on the day at Ballybrit. They will be also be joined on the day by Manager of Athlone Towncentre, Shirley Delahunt, who together with Marietta, has formed part of the judging panel for the last seven years. The chosen judges have a keen eye for racing style due to their involvement with race meetings throughout the country.
