The days are getting longer and warmer and we are here for it! We may still be in lockdown but it does finally feel like an end is in sight. As always, we are here to help add a little fun and creativity to your weekend with our suggestions of top things to do.

1) Watch ‘Earth From Space’ on RTE

Cameras in space offer us groundbreaking stories and a new perspective on life. This documentary series by Doug Mackay-Hope and Nick Smith-Baker reveals exciting new discoveries and explores Earth’s most remote habitats. It’s on RTE, Sat 27 at 4:15pm.

2) Try Cooking a Food Trend

This time last year the banana bread craze took over social media and since then many different baking and cooking hacks have trended online. Platforms like Tik Tok are awash with tasty yet simple recipes that you can try out at home. Impress your housemates or loved ones with this enticingly named  ‘cloud bread’.

3) Have a Sound Bath

A sound bath is a form of deep relaxation and meditation using sounds and vibrations of gongs, singing bowls and other percussion instruments. As in-person sessions cannot take place currently, many companies, like SoundMagic Ireland, are now providing sound bath recordings allowing you to take part in this relaxation method from the comfort of your own home.

4) Get a Delivery of Cocktails from The Twelve Hotel

We may not be able to go for cocktails at our favourite bar or restaurant just yet but we can bring a bit of cocktail sparkle to our own home thanks to a great initiative from The Twelve Hotel in Barna, Galway who have just launched a new cocktail club. This subscription offers a smooth drinks service delivered to your home anywhere in Ireland, with a selection of unique beverages designed by Simon King, the hotel’s own creative and talented cocktail king. Each monthly cocktail club subscription is a strictly limited offering so when they’re gone, they’re gone!

5) Find a Penpal

Who remembers having penpals when they were young?! Well believe it or not, having a penpal is not only still a thing but it seems that this communication method is very much alive and on the rise. Having a penpal is a great way to broaden your mindset, build connections and meet locals from potential travel destinations. There are loads of sites dedicated to helping people find a penpal, so why not check one out and pretty soon you could be receiving letters from all over the world.
