What: Clifden Traditional Music Festival

When: 4-7th April 

Where: Station House Theatre 

Celebrating its 13th year, the event kicks off with a Youth Session on Thursday, followed by a vibrant lineup including a marching band, workshops, street entertainment, and pub sessions, culminating in a headline concert on Saturday night. The festivities conclude on Sunday with a Traditional Music Mass and Farewell Session, promising a weekend of joy in Clifden.

What: The Galway Cycle 2024 

When: 5-7th April 

Where: Maynooth University campus to Eyre Square, Galway 

Entering its third decade, The Galway Cycle remains robust, having amassed over €1,000,000 for Irish causes. With a convoy comprising 300 cyclists, 25 support vehicles, and 30 crew members, the event underscores solidarity throughout. This year, it joins forces with As Darragh Did for a meaningful collaboration.

What: Mending and Maintenance Workshop

As part of Fashion Revolution Week 2024, the Galway City Museum is offering a free workshop where participants can learn simple clothing repairs such as patching, darning, and fixing buttons and zips, led by Eimear Greaney from www.upsew.ie.

What: Connemara International Marathon

Where: Connemara  

The Connemara International Marathon, starting with 70 runners in 2001 and now attracting around 3,200 participants, offers a breathtaking race through Connemara’s scenic mountains and lakes on April 21, 2024. The Connemarathon stands out as a remarkable and unforgettable running event, highlighting the breathtaking natural landscapes and cultural richness of Connemara and the broader Galway area.

What: Cúirt International Festival of Literature 

When: 23-28th April 

Where: Galway Arts Centre 

The Cúirt International Festival of Literature will offer a rich tapestry of literary events. Galway’s own literary luminaries, including Rita Ann Higgins and Edel Coffey, will share their work alongside international talents. The festival will also celebrate Galway’s unique culture and history, with events exploring topics such as the city’s treatment of women and its Troubles-era experiences. What: Maroon and White Charity Swim

When: Sunday, April 14th

Where: Ladies Beach Salthill

Salthill will be awash with the Galway colours on Sunday, April 14th at 10am for the return of our Maroon and White charity swim in aid of the Rahoon Newcastle GAA club and Galway Autism Partnership (GAP).

The challenge to dip, dash or swim into Ladies beach is set to raise vital funds for both organisations, as they continue to foster inclusion and participation in sport and other healthy outdoor activities.

What: Moth and Butterfly present: ‘Wild & Wonderful’ 

When: 17th April 

Where: Rouge Restaurant 

Moth & Butterfly presents an evening of storytelling and improvisation featuring talented performers from Galway. Doors open at 7pm, and attendees are kindly requested to arrive by 7:20 to secure their seats. Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the event. Those interested in sharing a story are encouraged to email Moth & Butterfly by April 10th. The theme for the evening is ‘Wild & Wonderful’, with stories including folk-tales, personal anecdotes, and improvised narratives to match. The audience must be 18 years or older.

What: Talk & Storytelling: Old Irish May Customs 

When: 27th April 

Where: Galway City Museum 

Join Eddie Lenihan at the Galway City Museum at 14:00 to hear the great tales and folklore of the Celtic celebration of ‘May Eve’ and ‘May Day’ as we prepare to welcome the beginning of summer! What: Amber Moon Holistic Fearless Futures Workshop

Where: The Range 1989, Salthill

This workshop caters to individuals seeking to overcome energetic blocks, fear-based thought processes, self-limiting beliefs, worry, doubt, and fear of change. Participants are encouraged to introspect and confront their fears head-on, as a crucial step towards releasing them and embracing positive transformations.
