Our Top Weekend Picks for Tasty Bites in this Fabulous Food Capital!

In recent years, Galway has featured high on the national culinary radar, previously being named ‘The Food Capital of Ireland’ and now European Region of Gastronomy for 2018. This award recognises our rich landscape, our food heritage, our food producers, our cultural diversity and the quality of produce presented in our wonderful restaurants, prepared by the hands of our talented chefs. As the first region in Ireland to receive this designation, it will provide further opportunities to gather support and develop programmes which focus on building on the many strengths of our vibrant city.

The trend toward health consciousness, coupled with an increasing interest in gourmet and high-quality cuisine, is inducing food-service operators to adopt value-added options, such as gluten-free foods, farm-to-fork restaurant models and locally-sourced produce. The ubiquitous use of smartphones has also forced restaurants to cater to consumers that want timely service with minimum effort. Galway’s ever-changing demographic composition has resulted in a diverse and extensive variety of cuisine choices.

As we shine the spotlight on Galway’s most exciting eateries, you will get a glimpse of exactly what we are talking about. ‘Variety is most certainly the Spice of Life’ when dining out in Galway City!

So go on, get in the know, get involved, get tasting, and be part of Galway’s food revolution!
