The Vodafone Comedy Carnival has descended on Galway once again for a week of non-stop laughter, running from Tuesday 23rd to Monday 29th. 

The line-up is the best yet, with a mix of hugely popular names, comedy trailblazers and up-and-coming comedic talent. There is a vast range of performances lined up, from stand up and improv to poetry readings and storytelling, there is something for everyone! Here are our top five performances not to miss at the carnival!

Dylan Moran in Leisureland

Dylan Moran

Moran’s deadpan humour guarantees a laugh. Whether he is offering his unique take on romance and politics or simply citing the everyday absurdities of life, he is without a doubt one of the finest comedians of his generation. He will be taking to the stage in Leisureland, Salthill on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7 pm.

Gina Yashere at the Róisín Dubh

Gine Yashere

Gina Yashere has an incredibly distinctive voice, which recently featured in the hit animated movie ‘Early Man’. This Londoner’s bombastic delivery, infectious personality and cheeky observations are set to have the Róisín Dubh swelling with laughter on Wednesday from 8 pm. Performing alongside Glenn Wool, Barry Castagnola and Papa CJ, get ready for a giggle!

Milton Jones in the Spiegeltent

Milton Jones

The master of one-liners, Milton Jones, is back in the Spiegeltent in Eyre Square on Friday and Sunday from 6.30 pm. Jones’ quirky sense of humour will have you doubled over as he perfectly lands every joke, pun and quip. As somewhat of a neurotic genius, Milton’s deadpan performance is one for the books!

Kerry Godliman at the Spiegeltent and The Loft

This charmingly straight-talking and quick-witted comedian is one of the UK’s best performers. Performing alongside The Nualas, Marlon Davis and Sean Hegarty in The Loft at Seven Bridge Street on Sunday (from 8 pm) and alongside a number of comedy greats at the Spiegeltent on Saturday and Sunday (from 6.30 pm), Kerry Godliman an entertainer not to be missed!

Late Night KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh

From Thursday to Sunday from 10.30 pm, Karl Spain hosts an assortment of comedians (yet to be announced) in what is sure to be a jam-packed Róisín Dubh. This event is not for the faint-hearted, as the very best comedians will be performing their darkest material, so get ready to get rowdy! Receiving a slagging from some of the best in the business is inevitable!
