Michelle Keegan on her debut fashion collection

In between filming the third series of BBC drama, Our Girl, former Corrie actress Michelle Keegan recently unveiled her exclusive collection for fashion brand V by Very.

Michelle found fame in 2008 when she landed the part of Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street and has since gained notoriety for scooping the much coveted title of FHM’s Sexiest Woman in The World in 2015. Proving there is life after Weatherfield, Michelle’s career is booming since she left the cobbles behind her. From ethereal and glittering gowns to biker chic leather and party perfect looks, Michelle has a loyal fan base of fashion followers. With her new V by Very collection available online now, Lauragh Quinn caught up with the brunette beauty to chat about filming, family and fashion.

Did you always want to be an actress? Yes, I love acting and feel so lucky to be starring in a BBC drama. I love being behind the camera and the people you work with every day become like a family. It is the best job and I feel very fortunate.

What has been the highlight of your career so far? Landing the role for Our Girl has been my career highlight so far. The role really forced me to go out of my comfort zone which has been brilliant. I have had the opportunity to film in so many amazing places around the world like Cape Town and Malaysia so I’m really enjoying the role.

What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you? Stay true to who you are while being the best version of yourself you can be. What do you like to do in your time off? I don’t get much time off from work! This year has been the busiest I have had so far. When I had two weeks off from filming this summer, I worked every day shooting which was really exciting but meant I didn’t have a lot of down time. When I do take a break, I like to spend time with Mark and my family and friends.

What is your beauty regime like? I always start with a good moisturiser. I like the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser because it’s got an SPF in it and I use NARS and Giorgio Armani foundations for nights out. My lashes are Ardells, I use the strip lashes which give a really beautiful full effect. I use HD Brows products and get them threaded by them too. For my hair, I love Phillip Kingsley, The Elasticator, which I also use as a mask when I am away and shooting long hours and in hot weather.

Do you have a strict exercise routine? I don’t have a specific exercise routine at the moment. I’m filming six days a week with long hours so when I get home after a long day, the last thing I want to do is go to the gym. At the moment I’m just exercising at weekends. I try to have a balanced diet but don’t believe in depriving myself. If I have a bad day, I will try and eat a little better the next day. It’s all about balance!

Why did you choose to design for V by Very? V by Very is a trendy, fun and feminine fashion collection. Every season they have fantastic must-have styles and great wardrobe staples which you can wear year after year. I was attracted to the brand because that is exactly what I wanted for my own collection and also the chance to design fashion, accessories, activewear, loungewear and homeware was really exciting for me.
