Fashion designer Lucy Nagle has always had a thing for design. Following years of studying and working in interior design in London, Lucy had a knack of sourcing premium textiles along with an innate sense of choosing the best colour combinations.
Her transition to fashion was a no-brainer. Her love of colour, wool and cashmere, and her flair for mixing textures culminated in her first capsule cashmere collection in 2013, which was quickly snapped up by Brown Thomas after her success in CREATE and continues to be stocked in all their stores nationwide.
Lucy has since produced nine successful collections which she creates working alongside a team of German designers. Her range of cashmere jumpers, cardigans and bottoms are perfect for everything from curling up to binge on Netflix, to popping out for a coffee with friends. Amy Huberman, Vogue Williams, Pippa O’Connor and Andrea Corr are loyal fans of Lucy’s incredible designs.
A finalist at the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards 2017, Lucy’s collection of ready to wear knitwear for women, inspired by her own love of cashmere, is elegant, yet comfortable, and suits women of all ages. With it’s trademark star motif, Lucy’s new intarsia knit, The Superstar, might be just the thing we have been searching for!
We chat to Lucy and get the lowdown of what’s hot for the season ahead.
“I think there is a really positive, uplifting mood in fashion this season.”
It feels happier, lighter and more wearable – all things that are music to my ears! And while we create basics you can pull on whatever the season or time of year, we don’t really adhere to seasonal trends with our designs, but we still keep an eye on what’s relevant, making sure our colours work well with the trends.
This season, I absolutely fell in love with all the colours on the runways – both the trends for ice-cream pastel colours and the bold, bright shades. Colour is my thing, so I can appreciate the subtle nuances that come with every shade.
The soft chalky shades look so great in spring as you’re easing yourself into warmer temperatures, and for summer, the bolder pinks, reds and blues look stunning against sun-kissed skin.
I also fell for the denim trend. We’re all about denim with cashmere around here so denim is my other favourite love. I love how it has been used by designers and high street stores in all sorts of ways from dresses to skirts, trousers and coats.”
Lucy’s brand is synonymous with wellbeing and she believes that cashmere doesn’t have to cost the earth either. “The Lucy Nagle wearer wants to live her best life, in the healthiest way possible, feeling good, and looking good too.
“That’s why this quality yarn is such great value. Once you invest, your forever piece gives you the freedom of movement, making you feel instantly good from the moment you put them on.
“Every woman needs a die-hard seasonal piece that works with literally everything in your wardrobe.”
