F is for Fashion…S is for Sligo

Recently I was invited along by Goldenegg Productions as a VIP Blogger on the Sligo Fashion Trail, and boy what an experience!!! I had always looked on at previous trails with an olive green hue of jealousy- the glamour, the style, the FOOD!!! So I was delighted to be enlisted as a guest this time round. Here’s a play by play of how it went down, so you can glow your own shade of jade, *please imagine me sticking out my tongue while shaking my chokka full goodie bags at you!*

We braved the cold and freezing fog for an early start at around 6 am. Not knowing the location of my hairbrush, shoes or even my own feet (I’m not a morning person), I was delighted I had gotten my outfit together the night before. I hauled my late ass in the car, and we took on the infamous N17, had it been slightly later in the day, I may have even blared the Saw Doctors in homage, but as I said, I’m not a morning person! By the time we hit Sligo town, the tiredness had worn off, replaced with a rumbling stomach, which can only be compared to two orcas in a stern argument.

Warmly welcomed by the Glasshouse, Sligo, our hunger was met with an extensive buffet………glasshouse

We chowed down on a warm grill, munched on pastries, guzzled down fresh juice and cleansed our palates with crisp, sweet fruit. We ate, we mingled, and after a brief introduction to the trail, it was on to Quayside Shopping Centre for the first of their 2 shows of the day.

After this, we sauntered round the corner to the quaint boutique- Cait & I. Although there was no room for a fashion show, Kathleen and Tara spared no expense in treating us bloggers like royalty. Greeted with prosecco and nibbles, both sweet and savoury, each blogger was treated to a goodie bag full of Chrimbo gifts, while we perused through the stunning boutique and its beautiful, unique wares.

From here it was onto Johnston Court, where we were treated to a visit from Mr Claus himself, before being stunned by the range of fashions on offer under this one roof.

Ideal for your New Year’s bash, office Christmas party, or for a festive wedding, Johnston Court’s glamour was what stood out for me. Glitz, glitter, lace and luxury, it was all about plush Christmas fabrics, and rich textures, superb for the girl, or guy, who wants to turn heads, and break hearts this Chrimbo! Sligo designer Jade Reidy exhibited her latest collection in her home town, showcasing the endless talent Ireland has to offer!

Again, our stomachs dictated the pace of the day, and it was onto the funky Belfry for a scrumptious lunch. the-belfryFergal ensured our plates were full, and our glasses overflowing as we tucked into the extensive menu on offer. I had a flavour filled panini stuffed with chicken, cheese, bacon, lettuce and garlicccccccc- sorry just drooled on the keypad!!! We scraped ourselves off the couches, after a self induced food coma, and went back to the Quayside and Johnson for their second shows of the day!

With hair by Lydia Murray, and makeup by Mary Keane and Amy Christie, Mandy’s models certainly stood the test of time, looking as flawless as the first step of the day. Alongside the sassy fashionista, MC Claire Golden, every member of the team maintained such an admirable level of professionalism!

It was time for our last two boutiques, and our last two partnerships of the day. First off, Anna’s Lifestyle + Fashion Boutique greeted us with fresh G & T’s crammed with deep maroon berries (what they are, I’m not sure- but they made drinking G & T’s feel healthy- WINNING!!!) Anna treated us to some sensational winter looks. From party dresses to chunky knits and bobble hats, this phenomenal boutique offers a piece for life. Her stuff even popped up on Ireland AM the following morning, as I was indulging in my morning coffee! Teaming with talented jewellery designer, Martina Hamilton of The Cat and The Moon, whose pieces finished each look flawlessly, the pair were sensational!

Last, but by no means least, Chiara Poli of the Italian Wardrobe, alongside Marina Scally of WithNora Designs, were the ultimate in #squadgoals… The charming boutique was crammed with guests, and even more so with food. Canapes, sweet treats and bubbly ensured each guest was relaxed as each look was showcased. With the most unique and unusual headpieces, alongside versatile party dresses, beautiful coats, and adaptable, adorable accessories these two will take you right in to S/S ’17. Oh and for fear I forget- the goodie bags! Brimming with a plethora of those oh so impressive accessories, and discounts, they were the cherry on top of an all round awesome day!

To wrap up an eventful (and bloomin’ generous) day, everyone headed to the Bourbon Bar for cocktails. Unfortunately, the freezing fog ensured we were ushered off early. I’m assured the drink flowed, the music was pumping and the night was a huge hit!!! Well, if the day was anything to go by!!!

A huge thanks to all involved, here’s to the next #SligoFashionTrail!
