Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar are hosting an exhibition of video, print and light installation by artist Emma Zukovic from Friday 14th of September to Saturday 13th October.

Emma Zukovic was born in England and is based in Galway. Being of Macedonian descent, Zukovic’s work is concerned with the theory of Post Memory and its relevance to the lost country, Yugoslavia.

The exhibition is entitled ‘Post Memory from A Lost Country‘ and is concerned – according to the artist – with “the relationship that the ‘generation after’ bears to the personal, collective and cultural trauma of those who came before. The stories which we are told allow us to fabricate our realms of imagination, creating utopians of a place never before visited by us personally. My work is concerned with the disappearance of a country, and those who struggled with cultural identity as a direct result.”

The official opening will take place on Friday the 14th of September at 7.30 pm and all are welcome. From then until Saturday the 13th of September the exhibition will be open to the public Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 11am to 5.30pm. Admission is free.
