As TG4 celebrate 20 years on air, Claire O’Farrell and GALWAYnow caught up with Gráinne Seoige as she embarks on a brand new and exciting business venture. For the past two decades, TG4 has kept the flame of Irish culture alight and with stars like Gráinne immersed in the ethos of the station since the very beginning, it’s easy to see why.
Having graced our television screens for so many years as one of the nation’s most treasured personalities, the gorgeous Gaeilgeoir is loaning her talents to the world of diamonds. Gráinne’s journey into the jewellery realm was a natural progression following her engagement to husband Leon Jordaan. Her Durban-born fiancé proposed in an extravagant and enchanting way in November 2013 – with a loose diamond. Gráinne’s ensuing curiosity about the process of bringing that diamond ring to life was what led to the creation of Grace Diamonds. “I loved it the minute I saw it. Here was this beautiful diamond that Leon had chosen just for me so it felt really special. He said that I could leave it as a solitaire or we could design a ring around it, so that’s what we did. By including me in the process, yet choosing the diamond himself, I got the best of both worlds!”
Grace Diamonds was launched with incredible glamour on the catwalk of New York Bridal Fashion Week. Gráinne’s dear friend and talented Irish fashion designer, Don O’Neill, heard about her new business plans and suggested a collaboration. “The biggest bridal designers, as well as editors of all the major bridal magazines in the world attended. Seeing our jewellery on the catwalk was actually really emotional for me. All of this work behind the scenes and the amazing opportunity that Don gave me really came together in that moment. It really was the perfect way for us to launch our business.”
