CRACKS – Mental Health themed play in Town Hall Theatre

Louth-based Quintessence Theatre are coming to the Town Hall Theatre Studio on Thursday 4th October at 8.30pm as part of their 18 venue, islandwide tour of their mental health-themed play Cracks.

I’m falling between the cracks in myself, and I don’t know how to crawl back out…
Cracks is a powerful original play exploring mental illness in Ireland. In this darkly comic and deeply moving new play, an unsuccessful suicide attempt leaves young Leanne Dowd estranged from those she loves and attempting to pick up the pieces of a life still shattered by mental illness.

First devised by the company in 2016 and directed by Anna Simpson (a Creative Associate of the
Pleasance and Practitioner with the Globe, London), this new work already revived multiple times for sell-out runs, seeks to expose the lived experience of battling a severe mental illness in an inefficient and unsympathetic system through the eyes of one young woman.

The group will be joined by Dr. Malie Coyne (leading expert in Mental Health &
based in NUI Galway), Lochlann Scott (Founder of Helplink Support Services & Board Member of Mental Health Reform) & Nicola Hampson (See Change / Shine Organisation) for their post-show discussions over their two performances at the Town Hall Theatre, Galway.
