The Nollaig na mBan tradition has regenerated hugely in many parts of Ireland and on the west coast, the tradition is still very strong. January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany, celebrates the end of the Christmas festive season. Uniquely known in english as Women’s Little Christmas, it’s a day dedicated to Irish women everywhere, to get together and meet up with girlfriends. sisters, aunts and mothers etc.
There are a host of different events taking place all over the country to mark Nollaig na mBan and celebrate the best of women in the West.

Where: Moco Artisan Delicatessen, Oranmore, Galway.

When: 1pm – 5pm

Moco Artisan Delicatessen are inviting all lades to celebrate an afternoon of tea, coffee, desserts this in Oranmore. Enjoy Petits Fours with tea/coffee €10 per person and beautiful gift bags available to purchase in store from €15.

Where: An Cistin, Carraroe, Galway

When: 6pm

For a taste of the West’s traditional music scene, the famous An Cistin in Carraroe, County Galway will closing out the festive season starting at 6pm with music and singing by John Deegan. Christmas craic for Ceol na Nollaig is guaranteed.

Where: Quays Bar, Galway

When: 8pm till late

Ireland’s favourite 4 piece wedding band will take to the stage tonight at the famous Quay’s Bar, Galway so get your glam gals together to dance the night away!

Where: Westport Country Lodge

When: 1.30pm

The Nollaig na mBan Fun Lunch in Westport Country Lodge starts with a mulled wine reception at 1.30 followed by lunch, music and the annual Mayo Inspirational Woman Award Ceremony. Keynote speaker Maria Walsh is sure to provide lots of inspiration for the year ahead and proceeds are in aid of the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre.

When: 1pm

The fifth Women’s Little Christmas Black Dress Lunch hosted by Kilronan Castle will kick of with The Funky Fashion Frolics judging the style at the event and imparting valuable fashion advice – with a comedic twist. Dress code is black dress, with a prize for the best splash of yellow. Proceeds are in aid of the Simon Community.

Where: Glór Theatre, Ennis

When: 8pm

The world-famous Kilfenora Ceili Band will be taking to the stage in Glór Theatre, Ennis tonight at 8pm. This is a must see celebration of traditional music and dance!
