5 Race Week Dining Spots

Race Week Dining

Whether you want a fine dining experience or a takeaway that hits the spot, it can be hard to choose where to dine during race week. Here are 5 of our favourite spots to grab some grub to add to your list.

1. Murty Rabbits

Looking for good food in the heart of the city? Then look no further. Founded in 1872 and a short walk from Eyre Square this spot serves great grub, has a beer garden and is open late – perfect!

2. Basilico

If you’re staying outside the city during the Galway Races, why not stop into Basilico in Oranmore? Offering award-winning authentic Italian food fresh from farm to fork, this bright and inviting restaurant really has it all. If you’re still looking for somewhere to stay, they also have limited rooms available. Book now to avoid disappointment.

3. Ré Nao

If you love nothing more than some tasty Asian cuisine, a gorgeous sun-filled patio and copious amounts of cocktails then Ré Nao is the perfect spot to book a meal during race week. Or if you fancy a quick takeaway and a stroll, try their McKenna’s Guide winning sister restaurant Xi’an Street Food on Quay Street.

4. Armorica

Another Oranmore staple, Armorica is the perfect venue for any special occasion. If you want something different during Race Week we recommend trying their delicious French inspired, locally sourced menu.

5. O’Dowds

After the week of racing has filled you with wonder, and we imagine lots of merriment, a trip to O’Dowds in Roundstone is the perfect drive to clear your head and enjoy fresh local food. It’s the perfect spot for a Sunday meal and some stunning scenery.
