Italian food is always a crowd pleaser with adults and children alike always finding it a firm favourite on the menu. As one of Galway’s top restaurants, and winner of the AA Rosette for Excellence, Basilico Oranmore has a dual offering with both a gastro pub and an elegant fine dining experience.
The Bistro has nightly specials from €9.95 which have proved hugely popular with the focus being on grills, pasta and pizzas as well as their extensive dinner menu.
The owners, Fabiano Mulas and Paolo Sabatini, take pride in sourcing all the best seasonal and local produce. Authentic ingredients are imported from Italy and their excellent wines come from Cantina Lavorata in Calabria. Craft beers, a variety of specially selected gins and Italian liqueurs, as well as a great pint of Guinness, have given the bar a well-deserved and favourable reputation.
In addition, there is also their restaurant farm – Derrykeel Home Farm – where they grow most of their salads, onion, fennel, spinach, cabbage and potatoes. Their first growing season has been a huge success and they are so excited to begin harvesting their first potato crops. Their passion is closely linked to their proud family tradition of farm to table which their parents still practice in Italy.
Their crispy-based pizzas, which are handmade with top quality imported Italian flour, are cooked to perfection in their unique wood-fired pizza oven. The bread and pasta is also freshly made on site along with a decadent selection of mouthwatering desserts. Regulars enjoy specials such as their signature ravioli with prawn and courgette which is served with their very own bio-sustainable sweet vine tomatoes and Derrykeel rocket. All of their authentic Italian dishes are cooked to order ensuring fresh and delicious plates every time. Their wine list is an exceptional list of the best of Italian wines which are specially selected from Cantina Lavorato in Calabria.
